Wow -- update

Hey MACURH!

This blog is need of a major update. Well, I am getting ready to head out to Tucson, Arizona for the Semi-Annual Business Meeting/National NRHH Board Meeting. This is going to be an amazing business meeting! It'll be a good opportunity to see some of the student leaders from around the country again. A lot of quality student leaders are electing to run for national office. I am really excited to read their bids and see their presentations. I know that they have all put a lot of work into developing quality bids for national officer positions.

The National NRHH Board will be meeting, so that will be interesting. I am interested to see what comes of the NRHH business discussions.

I am excited to scope out the NACURH 2009 Host Site for the region. I know Ben, Abby, and I will be piecing together a lot of information for those interested member schools. Maybe some pictures or video for No Frills and the Website (maybe, Jacob? :) ). Ben and Abby will be having tons of fun with National Board business--legislation and such.

Commitment to Philanthropy

Commitment to Philanthropy Award

Purpose: This award is designed to recognize a MACURH member school in good standing
that has shown a yearlong commitment to the regional philanthropy, local campus
philanthropies, and community philanthropies. For the purposes of this award, philanthropy
shall be defined as physical time, monetary, clothing, food, or other tangible donations given to
the above listed philanthropies and/or not for profit organizations.

Eligibility: Any MACURH member school in good standing with NACURH may submit a bid
for the award. The award shall have an eligibility period o MACURH conference to MACURH
conference. Only year specific information from the eligibility period will be considered in the
selection of this award.

Pages: The written bid shall not exceed twenty (20) pages (10-12 point type). A page is
defined as a side with print; including text, letters of recommendations, appendices, dividers,
etc. The title page shall not be included in the twenty (20) pages, but dividers shall be included
in the page count. Appendices may not exceed twenty (20) pages and will not be included in
the twenty (20) pages and may be added at the bidding school’s discretion. All bids shall
contain page numbers. Bids over the page limit will not be considered.

Required Contents:
A. Introductory statement including:
a. A Statement of Philanthropy
b. Your campus’ perspectives on philanthropy
c. Your campus’ approach to philanthropy

Suggested Criteria:
A. How has your campus tried to develop new and creative ways o promoting and
implementing philanthropy?
B. What philanthropic contributions were made by your campus?
a. Campus Organizations/entities contributed to:
i. Short description of said organization/entity
ii. Programs/activities designed to promote the philanthropy
iii. Overall contributions made
b. MACURH Philanthropy
i. Programs/activities designed to promote the philanthropy
ii. Overall contributions made
c. Community Organizations/entities contributed to:
i. Short description of said organization/entity
ii. Programs/activities designed to promote the philanthropy
iii. Overall contributions made
d. Other Organizations/entities contributed to not included in the above listed options:
i. Short description of said organization/entity
ii. Programs/activities designed to promote the philanthropy
iii. Overall contributions made
C. Letters of Recommendation (maximum of 4)

Selection: The award shall be selected by the NRHH Reps from schools in good standing and
in attendance at the MACURH Conference.

Award: The award will consist of a plaque to be retained by the winning school. The RAD-NRHH or designated representative(s) shall announce the award winner at the MACURH
conference awards banquet.

Affiliation Updates

I hope you all have had a chance to memorize the latest edition of MACURH's wonderful newsletter. I thought I'd give this opportunity to update a little on the affiliation process for NRHH chapters.

As you should know, the affiliation fee is now a combined fee for both RHA and NRHH chapters. Essentially, an institution of higher education pays dues ($110/$85) to affiliate the school. RHA chapters must submit NIC reports in conjunction with the dues to fully affiliate. However, the additional components for the NRHH chapters are different.

NRHH chapters must submit the following items:

Updated Constitution
Updated member list
NRHH Affiliation Document (.doc)

As the NACURH Information Center is currently going through transition, the affiliation status is not updated on the NACURH site. However, they are currently accepting affiliation materials as I type.

Right now, I have been going through chapter constitutions from MACURH. Some of the constitutions were approved by Ty and some were not. I will be contacting NRHH chapters in August with details about constitutional updates.

Also, when affiliating your institution, if you could send a copy of them to macurh.rad@gmail.com I would greatly appreciate it. This would help me work with the NIC to ensure that all chapters are fully affiliated.

Hello, MACURH!

Today is the first day after NACURH, and let me tell you, I am so pumped to be the RAD of MACURH. This next year is going to be absolutely amazing especially with the efforts of the NRHH members and RHA members throughout the region. I hope to serve every NRHH chapter, RHA chapter, affiliated schools, and unaffiliated schools in the best capacity I can.

In my bid, I outlined 4 main areas of goals which were:

Of-the-Month Development and Education
Recruitment, Retention, and Affiliation
Regional NRHH Resources
Regional/National Transparency and Accountability

My hope is that through this blog, you will see the evidence throughout the year that I have fulfilled the tenants of my bid for RAD.
